Halloween Reading Challenge Book #3 : Bloody Mine by Nikki Landis

Nikki Landis brings us back to Bodie and Sasha in this Valentine’s Day themed book from the Tonopah Chapter of the Royal Bastards MC. A lot has happened to the couple since the incident over the Christmas holiday, and Sasha is starting to feel overwhealmed by club life. She has started back to working outside the Club, something that Bodie isn’t happy about, and has started staying, part time, back in the apartment that she shared with Tricia before everything blew up over Christmas. She’s also started noticing some odd things happening around the apartment that don’t quite make sense, but doesn’t think to tell Bodie about it

Bodie finds out that Nikki has become the target of an unhinged drug lord due to the disappearance. of his relative around Christmas. Instead of blaming his cousin, or the Black Scorpins MC for the man’s death, he blames Sasha. He is a part of one of the RBMC’s business alliances, so Bodie and his Pres are not able to hunt the man down and destroy him like their reapers demand. This puts a strain on Bodie and Sasha’s relationship and places Sasha and her friends outside the Club in more danger. When the Reaper is finally freed, he is out for a bloody vengence, one that will ensure that Sasha’s enemy will endure pain and suffering for eternity.

I love how Bodie is so sweet to Sasha, even when she is kind of unsure and floundering in their relationship, He’s not afraid to comfort her, and distract her from over thinking things, or from thinking herself out of loving him. My favorite quote from Bodie to Sasha has to be, "There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you or give you. You f*kin’ own me, Baby."  While it does take her a while to get there with him, she’s just as in love with him as he is with her. So much so, that she practically lets him do just about anything he wants to her without complaint.

While this is classed in the "Dark Romance" section of literature because of the subject matter discussed within the pages, and some of the actions that are undertaken by the characters in the book. They are not kind or caring, and are quite dark and depraved in nature. However, this series really reads like a light "Horror Romance" to me due to the nature of the Reapers that the bikers share their bodies with, and the actions of some of the other characters in the series. Death wielding a scythe is not a "Dark Romance" in my opinion. That being said, the author has provided appropriate warnings at the beginning of this book. It is to the reader’s advantage to read them and decide if they wish to continue reading with that information in front of them. The author certainly does not hide that this book is about an outlaw MC whose members do not necessarly follow the social norms of most of society, and that this particular branch of the MC is a little bit on the spooky side.

I did give this book high marks for the story itself. It was a wonderful read. It kept me engaged and entertained the entire time I was reading. The story flowed very well, with no major plot fails, and was believable (even with the paranormal elements involved). While the Spice was hot, it was rather on the tame side for Dark Romance. The Humor was spot on and perfectly childishly inappropriate. Enough to make me laugh out loud when I shouldn’t be making noise at all. Truthfully, I just fell in love with Bodie and Sasha, as well as the rest of the RBMC in Tonopah. This one is definitely staying on my "Favorite" shelf for a very long time.

Wishing You Happy Reading Adventures
